ABOUT

ZACK TAYLOR

Hi! I'm Zack Taylor, documentary and commercial filmmaker. Originally from Provo, Utah, I've been working in film and photography in New York City for over 15 years. I run a small production company called Subset, with the help of a few trusted lighting techs, assistants, video editors, sound recordists, and prop stylists.

In 2017 I released my first film, Cassette: A Documentary Mixtape. It's a feature-length love letter to music's most underrated format. The film focuses on the cassette's inventor, Lou Ottens (1926 - 2021) as he journeys through his own history to try and make sense of his invention's unlikely 21st Century resurgence. The film played at over 75 film festivals around the world and is distributed through Gravitas Ventures.

In 2021 I was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Video for my drone film “New York from Above: April 2020”.

My client list includes West Elm, Amazon, The New Yorker, The New York Times, J.Crew, Levi's, Williams Sonoma, and more.
